I was looking forward to meeting Sarahbobera of the “My Middle Name Is Grace” blog.  I decided to drive to Bellevue, NE for our interview.  After all, it was about a 6 and a half hour trip.  It would enable to visit a state I had never set foot in before.

Photobucket

Luckily for me, the weather cooperated and I walked into Scooters Coffee House just on time.  Over in the corner, I spied big comfy couches and a young woman sitting in one. (Editor’s note: After I hit 50, anyone younger than 30 looks like a kid to me…sighs)

On the floor next to her was a cardboard sign that said Woot! Woot! In big  letters, I knew at once I had found Sarahbobera.  After we exchanged hello greetings and hugs, we sat down to begin our interview.

Sarah highly recommended the Caramelicious that she was drinking.  I ordered one and ohhh what a caffeine rush.

Bookworm:   First of all, congratulations are in order.  I read on your blog that you are now a CDM, CFPP that’s a Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional, right?

Sarahbobera:  Thanks for the congratulations on my CDM, CFPP. And yes, that is the correct terminology for my acronyms, lol. I’m still kind of in awe over the fact that I have acronyms after my name!!!!

Sarahbobera:   Though I haven’t actually found a job yet as a CDM, I’m still the evening cook at Hillcrest. I love to cook! When I first started working at Hillcrest, almost 6 years ago someone told me that meals are the highlights of most the residents’ day. To be able to come to the dining room and engage in conversation with the people at their table and enjoy a great meal was what they looked forward too. It made me want to do my best at my job so they could enjoy that experience. Hillcrest has changed a lot in the past 6 years; we are more of a rehabilitation center than a nursing home. The residents are now younger and they only stay for a few weeks, where as before I could form relationships with the residents. Now, a lot of the residents would rather eat in their rooms instead of the dining room. I still try to provide them with good meals, but it’s hard now that I can’t get to know them better.

Bookworm:   Is sarahbobera your real world name or does it have a special meaning for you?

Sarahbobera:  The nickname Sarahbobeara was given to me by Nursey and Hook. I’ve known both of them for almost 6 years. Nursey used to work at Hillcrest with me. She’s like a second mom to me. They introduced me to Blogstream, so I figured that should be my name. I’m a huge klutz, always hurting myself and breaking glasses and dishes at work. I sprained my ankle once leaving Nursey’s house. She would always say my middle name should be Grace, so that’s how I came up with my Blog title name.

Photobucket

Bookworm:   What does the phrase Woot Woot mean?

Sarahbobera:   Woot Woot means Yay or Yes, to me. I don’t know what it means to other people. I was once leaving a bar, a little inebriated with a friend/co-worker of mine. She noticed a group of guys walking down the street and said, “Hey Sarah, look…..hot guys.” I rolled down my window just enough to be able to holler out, “Woot Woot.” When I got back to work on Monday, everyone knew about it.

Bookworm:   If money were no object and you cold go anywhere in world with the bloggers of your choice, where would you go and what would you do?

Sarahbobera:   I would take Nursey and Hook to see Rosie in Australia! I got to talk to Rosie in a very expensive phone call last August. It was very enjoyable!!!!

Bookworm:   Do you consider yourself an extrovert or an introvert?

Sarahbobera:  I’m a little of both. If I’m in an unfamiliar place or situation, I’m usually quite shy. If I’m somewhere with close friends, then I’m extroverted.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Bookworm:   Optimistic or Pessimistic?

Sarahbobera:  Definitely a pessimist. I tend to expect the worst; in the end it isn’t all that bad. That works most of the time.

Photobucket

Bookworm:   A risk taker or cautious?

Sarahbobera:  Most of the times, cautious. There are some risks in life you have to take, or you don’t live at all. But, I tend to stay away from the ones that can risk hurting others or myself. Those are never fun!

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Bookworm:   Is there anything you gained from your Blogging experience that you use in the real world?

Sarahbobera:  Everyone has been real supportive to me here on Blogstream. (THANKS, btw!) So, I try and be supportive to the people I’m around in real life.

Photobucket

Bookworm:   What do you bring to Blogstream?

Sarahbobera:  I would hope I bring friendliness.

Photobucket

Bookworm:   What do you consider is your biggest character strength or weakness?

Sarahbobera:  My biggest character strength and weakness is how much I care for the people around me. In the past, I have cared too much and it didn’t help in the long run.

Photobucket

Bookworm:   What is your favorite Christmas memory?

Sarahbobera:  My favorite Christmas memories are the ones I’ve spent with my family. We always get together, drink eggnog, listen to Christmas music and make each other laugh.

Bookworm:   Did you make any New Year Resolutions this year?

Sarahbobera:  I really didn’t. I have never followed through with my resolutions before, so I figured why bother this year?

Photobucket

Bookworm:   If you won a million dollars, what would you do with the money?

Sarahbobera:  Is the million before or after taxes? If it’s before, I’d put half of it away in savings...somewhere with a good interest rate. Put a down payment on a house, go to college, and buy a whole new wardrobe! Oh…and shoes. too!!

Bookworm:   Do you have any heroes?

Sarahbobera:  My mom, definitely. When I was twelve, my dad was sent on a remote tour to Korea for a year by the Air Force. My mom took care of three kids, and exchange student and worked overnights at the University Hospital. That might have been some of the hardest times of her life, but she did it and made sure all four of us were taken care of. I couldn’t imagine having to do that. She is always there for me and being supportive of me!

Photobucket

Bookworm:   And now for the Mandatory Questions.

Bookworm:   What brought you to Blogstream, and what did you hope to get out of it?

Sarahbobera:  Nursey and Hook brought me to blog stream. I find it as my little escape from life.

Bookworm:   What 5 CD's are currently in your player?

Sarahbobera:  Kanye West, Sarah Bareilles, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Breaking Benjamin, and Sugarland

Bookworm:   Last book you read? What was the best and worst book you read?

Sarahbobera:  Devin and Shane: The MacKade Brothers by Nora Roberts. The best book I’ve ever read was Montana Sky by Nora Roberts. I’ve read it probably six different times and I wouldn’t mind reading it 6 more!!! The worst book I’ve read is A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. It was beautifully written, but it was just so darn depressing!

Signs That Your Computer Has Taken Over!

Signs That Your Computer Has Taken Over!

Your husband tells you he has had the beard for two months.

You buy a Captain Kirk chair with a built in keyboard and mouse

Your wife makes a new rule : the computer can not come to bed

You ask your plumber how much it would cost to replace the chair in front of your computer with a toilet

Your wife says it is important to communicate in a marriage... so you buy another computer and install a second phone line so the two of you can chat

As your car crashes on a country road, your first instinct is to hit the "back" button

Your cat has his own web page

How to Prepare for a New Cat

Take cold chicken and stars soup straight from the can and splash it across the carpet and the foot of the bed and then walk in it in the dark with your socks on.

Set up a mouse trap at the foot of the bed each night so that if you move a toe one inch while you are sleeping, you are sure to get snapped.

Cover all your best suits with cat hair. Dark suits must use white hair, and light suits must use dark hair. Also, float some hair in your first cup of coffee in the morning.

Put everything cat-toy sized into a water bowl to marinate.

Practice cutting your chicken into teeny tiny bites so that when they steal, it won't be the whole breast.

Tip over a basket of clean laundry, and scatter clothing all over the floor.

Leave your underwear on the living room floor, because that's where the cat will drag it anyway (especially when you have company).

Jump out of your chair shortly before the end of your favorite TV program and run to the TV shouting "No! No! Don't chew on the electric cord!" Miss the end of the program.

Put chocolate pudding on the carpet in the corner of the living room in the morning and don't try to clean it up until you return from work that evening.

Gouge the surface of the dining room table several times with an exacto knife. It's going to get scratched anyway.

Practice searching every closet and open cabinet door before you shut it.

Knock all small items off your kitchen counter.

Chew the eraser off every pencil in the house.

Take a fork and shred the roll of toilet paper while it's still hanging up. Pull a few sheets off and scatter them around the bathroom.

Take a staple remover and punch two holes in every scrap of paper around the house.

Get a litter tray without a lid and mix in some tootsie rolls with cat litter and then tip it over right before the company comes. Make sure your guests get to find this before you do.

Buy a mixed bag of cat toys and stuff them under the refrigerator. Practice getting up at 2:00AM and fishing them out with a ruler or broom stick.

Take a warm cuddly blanket out of the dryer and immediately wrap it around yourself. This is the feeling you will get when your new cat falls asleep on your lap.

There now, once you've done all these, you've passed the test, and are ready to take on that little furry critter!
