A few weeks ago while searching for info about Registry Cleaners and Music Sites I picked up a virus on my computer. I'm not sure which site infected my computer. It was a trojan and cyber x virus if memory serves me right. All of a sudden popup windows were all over the screen. Some took you to some interesting sites like porntube.
The search paths were messed up too. I tried to find the phone number to the closest UPS store via Google. The results came from Dealtime or Infoworld.
I contacted the virus experts Norton. Using the remote connection, they supposedly removed the virus. Then another problem happened. My anti virus program said I needed to run a live update to correct the problem. Live Update didn't work.
So it was back to Norton. Once again via the remote connection, they worked on the computer. They removed their program to reinstall it. They couldn't and to date still can't get it reinstalled. I'm waiting for an email from one of their senior techs with furthur instructions.
My search paths are a little better. I only go to sites I visited before i.e. blogstream. My bookmarks work okay. Naturally, I'm not doing any personal business from my home computer.
Thank you all for the expressions of concern and holiday ecards you sent me. I'm not responding to comments or emails right now because I don't want to send a virus accidently to anyone. It's not fun.
Prognosis: I'm still not sure when I'll be back on a regular basis. If Norton can't resolve the problem, I'll take it to my techie nephew. I'm suffering withdrawal pains.
Special thanks and kudos go to June and Heide for their work on the Blogchurch during my computer woes.
