The Library Cat

Dear Dog (A little cat humor)

This joke was one of my first posts. I liked it so much I'm posting it again. Consider it an encore performance. By the way, my cats loved it.

Dear Dog,

I am sooooo  sorry about you being sent to the dog pound for the broken lamp which you did not break; the fish you did not spill; the carpet that you did not wet; or the wall that you did not dirty with red paint...

But things here at the house really are calmer now, and just to show you that there are no hard feelings between us, I am sending you a picture, so you will always remember me.

Best regards,
The Cat

 The Library Cat's Pet Peeves

Pet Peeves
Have you ever wondered what drives a librarian crazy? Most public libraries have done away with the stereotype of a librarian saying shhh or shush to try to preserve quiet. After all, one of the functions of a library is to act as a gathering place for its community.

However, there are things that cause librarians to think: "You're on my last nerve don't push it." The first and biggest offender is/are cell phones and their users. Cell phones have become this generations cigarettes. The folks who use them talk louder, ignore the librarian trying to answer their questions, and are generally more obnoxious about their supposed right to use the cell phone than anyone else that darken a library's door.

Another pet peeve is the person who insist on coming to the check out counter with a large stack of books in their hands and their library card in their mouth. The cold and flu season decimate more library staffs because of this rude behavior. How many germs are transmitted?

We have to mention the enterprising teens who think they're allowed to ride their bikes and/or skateboards through the library. What would happen if they knocked a senior citizen down and hurt them? Would they take responsibility for their actions?

Last but certainly not least are our lovable and not so lovable internet junkies. Must you always push the envelope when your time is up? After all, another junkie is waiting for their internet fix. Please be kind. Please be courteous. Please leave.

Speaking of leaving, I think I'll take advice and leave. Thanks for letting me vent.
